RoHS Compliance: Key Issues, Best Practices and Critical Steps

Harvey Stone of The GoodBye Chain Group Complying with RoHS: Key Issues, Best Practices and Critical Steps
Dr. Harvey Stone, The Goodbye Chain Group
Thursday, October 27th
Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (Irvine, CA)
9:00AM - 4:30PM

The cost is $140/$200 for SMTA members/non-members, and a one-year individual SMTA membership is included in the non-member price.

As of the October 27th date of this workshop, there will be less than 3 quarters until RoHS takes effect in the European Union and, potentially, in China. Brand-owning companies face unprecedented financial risk from being shut out of multiple markets for non-compliance. Suppliers and contract manufacturers face very formidable business and competitive risks if they cannot assist their customers in complying.

Thus, given that the stakes are very high and time is very short, the purpose of this workshop is to assist companies in managing their RoHS risks and in accelerating their RoHS compliance.

Course Topics
  • What is the state of the industry today in regard to RoHS?
  • What clarification has there been in regard to the scope of RoHS?
  • What exemptions have been voted "yes", "no" or are still pending?
  • What are the emerging data collection standards and accepted practices?
  • Who will be enforcing RoHS, and how will they be doing it?
  • The UK has provided a great deal of guidance, but what are the other EU countries saying and doing?
  • And, most importantly, what are companies doing today to comply?
  • How are they implementing Design of Experiments?
  • What can you learn from their best practices and worst pitfalls to accelerate your own RoHS compliance?

  • Course Description
As with previous SMTA-sponsored RoHS workshops, the tone of this workshop is very collegial. Presentations are meant to provide information and stimulate discussion. Working sessions then allow attendees to share their own experiences, ask questions and get answers from the rich pool of presenters and attendees.

By the end of this workshop, it is expected that attendees will have a better sense of the steps they need to take in order to reduce their financial risk, to cut their costs; and, where appropriate, to gain competitive advantage from their RoHS compliance activities.

    Cancellation Policy
Registration fees will be refunded if written notice is postmarked TWO WEEKS prior to the class date. "No Shows" WILL NOT be refunded in order to cover expenses incurred. If someone will be going in your place, please advise the SMTA as soon as possible.
