Position Summary The Technical Sales Manager will report to the Regional Sales Manager and will be responsible for expanding sales and providing support to customers using Kester’s product line for SMT, Wave Soldering, Selective Soldering, Manual and Robotic soldering applications within their assigned region. Through this support, new customer opportunities are identified, and new product sales are generated. In addition to supporting the customers in the field, the Sales Manager plays an important role by facilitating communication between our customers and Kester’s quality and new product development teams. The role will maintain close contact with Kester’s Regional Sales Manager.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Identify new product and customer opportunities within the segment • Accomplish sale target based on business development plan • Communication of product performance feedback from customers to quality and R&D departments for use in continuous improvement and new product development • Provide frequent updates via phone/email/in-person to Regional Sales Manager and other leadership as required • Input and maintain accurate information in customer database • Conduct customer training and line audits for their electric assembly operations • Support product quality initiatives, including root-cause investigations and internal/external reporting • Providing initial technical support of customers who use Kester products within their assigned region • Responsible for 12 states in the Midwest USA as well as other focused key accounts, with a strong focus on our Sales Excellence Strategy • Responsible for maintaining the Sales Tracker for the territory and accounts the person would be managing • Experience with Surface Mount Technology and Electronics experience would be preferred • Additional duties and tasks as assigned • Responsible for 12 states in the US (Midwest) as well as other key accounts, with a strong focus on Sales Excellence Strategy
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Engineering or Chemistry • Must have 3-5 years successful sales experience • Minimum of 2 years working in the electronics assembly market, preferred • Surface Mount Technology and Electronics experience would be preferred • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English and Spanish) • Customer meetings will require strong presentation skills. Ability to explain technical advantages of a product to a non-technical decision maker • Ability to quickly screen the technical issues (quality/process/raw materials) related to electronic assembly for customers is required • Understanding of solder paste printing, reflow, wave soldering, and selective soldering is preferred • Ability to travel within Mexico and to the United States as required • Demonstrated ability to conduct research, identify strategic opportunities, and develop sound business strategy to convert on those opportunities • Ability to work directly, and through teammates, to implement key strategies • Strong business analytical skills are a must and some product and or market management experiences is a plus. • Proficient computer skills - MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with experience in communicating and working with a remote team • Proven time management, prioritization abilities and demonstrated strong project management skills • Must possess decision making skills necessary to flourish in an ambiguous environment • Takes initiative; able to function independently and make independent decisions • Proven thought leadership capabilities, innovative thinking skill set and the ability to drive change • Must be self-sufficient and independent • Must reside in the Midwest • Other duties as assigned
Travel Requirements Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally as necessary to fulfill the job responsibilities. Travel estimate for this position is estimated to be 70%.
