SUMMARY: Provides a hands-on process improvement using a combination of Lean Manufacturing tools with a focus towards standardizing and optimizing labor resources and systems, flow creation, 5S, and waste reduction. Responsible for working towards continuous improvements and participating in costing/cost reduction activities related to the assembly processes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides hands-on problem solving using a combination of Lean Manufacturing with a focus towards optimizing labor resources and systems, flow creation, 5S, and waste reduction. Facilitate value stream mapping, kaizen events or other pertinent problem solving group activities. Create and maintain process improvement metrics, including production control charts, reliability, and process capability in order to improve the process and monitor and measure progress to target outcome. Drive process improvement efforts by involving all stakeholders to facilitate growth and improvement of processes and people. Participate and help drive process improvements through idea/suggestion program. Help to increase involvement and implementation of suggestions. Train and supervise associates on new development processes and technology. Provide assistance on development and documentation of systems designed to sustain and drive continuous improvement. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Pre- Requisite: BA/BS degree in Business, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, Project Management or related field preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years successful lean implementation experience with proven record of sustainable results. Prior knowledge and practical experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting with a strong focus in Lean Manufacturing. Experience with Toyota Production System is preferred. Proven ability to drive continuous improvement with identifying and eliminating waste using applicable tools and analysis. Strong coaching, facilitation and organizational skills with a strong track record of successful change management. Able to function effectively in a challenging and fast-paced environment. Proactive, creative, hands-on change agent with team building abilities. Self-motivated and ability to "think on your feet" when working and a "can do" approach to work. Strong analytical, mathematical, computer and basic business skills. Able to bring clarity and optimal solutions from abstract information. WORKING CONDITIONS: General office and production environment.
ACCOUNTABILITY: The Lean Manufacturing Specialist is accountable for possessing and applying the necessary technical and system knowledge of good lean manufacturing practices. Also responsible for keeping informed and up to date on new developments in lean manufacturing and implementing improvements as appropriate. Must demonstrate good project management and decision making skills. Is accountable for practicing and promoting safe working habits, compliance with Company policies/procedures, and contribution to the overall Electronic Systems, Inc. team.
SUPERVISION: No direct supervisory responsibilities. Support and provide high quality service to internal and external customers.
