Abstract: Most of us are aware of the large number of changes that have taken place in the last 20 years:  Electronics has doubled in performance every 18 months.  Urban population has increased dramatically.  There are all time records set in business and banking failures.  There are all time records set for new business start-ups.  New technology is being introduced daily.  With improved communications and transportation, competition has increased.  Etc.

Our challenge is to accurately identify how these and other factors have changed the board assembly and test industry, to identify specific areas that receive the most impact and to implement plans that will keep our business on the leading edge of “change”.

To achieve this goal we must understand where we have been, we must NOT focus too closely on daily issues and we must project a realistic and flexible picture of the future.
