Abstract: The goal of any inspection is to have no impact from the system adopted, while using it as a tool to tailor and tune the process owned. In other words, the heart of manufacturing is in the efficiency of the process, not the equipment. The equipment is the tool used to view and measure the process quality, the key feature owned by manufacturing sites. As a result of this approach, and due to the advancements made in technology, inspection equipment has metrological data readily available, realtime. The challenge and problem is to make sense of this data. Through advancements in software, and in compliance with Industry 4.0, today’s data can now be used to the end game of providing information and knowledge, allowing users to see “the forest for the trees”, and make efficient and precise decisions based on the accuracy of the data extracted. In turn, this leads to clarity of vision, which leads to cost avoidance, quality improvements, and high yields, leading to product excellence and Customer satisfaction.

Key Words:

Industry 4.0, knowledge, metrology, quality
