Abstract: Today’ s OEMs are continually pushing the limits of product performance to differentiate their offerings in a highly. This requires the optimization of a number of conflicting parameters, including choosing the technology that provides the highest leverage, without sacrificing reliability, continuity of supply or adding development time or cost. This is complicated by the fact that most OEMs are increasingly relying on global Electronics Manufacturing Services Providers (often referred to as Contract Manufacturers, or CMs) to take an the task of doing the OEM’ s manufacturing & in many cases, the related process/test development. This pager describes a business process for managing new technology in this fast moving risky, competitive environment.
