Agile Scrum Methods For Cross Functional Product Development

Abstract: The Agile Scrum methodology has shown to be a viable alternative for software development to the historical waterfall models of project execution. Since its inception in 1986 a great many companies have shown how this methodology can address customer risk issues and accommodate changing requirements while still being able to predict project success. Traditionally Scrum has been applied to only the software engineering discipline. However, the aspects of Agile Scrum methodologies can be applied to other aspects of product development. This paper will provide the framework and concepts on how to manage the entire life cycle of a product development project using the Agile Scrum methodology. It will explore tools available and how to use them, defined roles, as well as applying the concepts to the other engineering disciplines including electrical, mechanical, PCB and transition to manufacturing engineering.
