Abstract: There are a wide variety of BGA repair and rework systems on the market, ranging from fully manual units to semi-automatic equipment with elaborate, computer driven process controls.

Your needs for a system will largely be determined by the volume and cost of the boards you’ll be working on. Even the entry-level systems are pretty effective at placing and removing BGA’s, but if you’ll be processing high volumes of boards and/or the cost of failure is extremely high, you’ll likely need one of the more sophisticated systems.
