DRIVING MANUFACTURING AND TEST STRATEGY VIA DATA ANALYSIS

Abstract: This paper discusses a novel approach of evaluating a product test strategy and the advantages of the new approach over existing methods. This approach is comprised of four key areas including historical data analysis, product data analysis, test coverage estimation, and manufacturing simulation. This article explores the technical details used to implement this approach for evaluating test strategies. The article also provides an overview of the algorithms used for each step of the process. The approach described here for test strategy evaluation has been implemented in a new software application. The application provides the ability to predict product defects that will occur during manufacturing, test process yields and throughput, as well as analysis and repair costs related to producing a specific product. The application can also analyze existing test programs to harvest coverage estimates providing the user with the ability to optimize test strategies.
