Abstract: As this millennium draws to a close, there will be profound changes in the SMT assembly line, The constant drive to lower assembly costs and the emergence of several enabling machine technologies will usher in an era of assembly equipment that is faster, cheaper, more accurate, occupies less floor space, and produces less waste material. These changes will be the result of revolutionary changes in the design and paradigms of assembly machines.
