Abstract: Motorola Labs has a lab dedicated to the testing and analysis of electronic products for compliance to global environmental regulations. Our research team has developed a set of screening test methods and standards for RoHS that are robust and provide definitive data for the level of restricted and hazardous substances present.

Our talk will summarize our work with the IEC, MII (China) and ASTM standards committees and provide details on the test methods and analyzing the resulting data. Approaches for testing materials, components and products will be discussed particularly as they relate to determining compliance with EU directives and building a compliant supply chain.

Key Words: RoHS Compliance, Testing, Substance Bans
