Abstract: Test, measurement, and automation designers are always looking at new ways to improve their productivity, accuracy, and of course, cut costs. New techniques, strategies and architectures are implemented to achieve these goals. One architecture that is achieving recognition and increasing implementation is the PCI EXtensions for Instrumentation, or PXI.

Today, we will attempt to make you "dangerous" with PXI. By that, I mean that we will try to help you understand what PXI is, how it’s used, and where. When you leave here, you should be dangerous enough to be able to start considering PXI for your applications. True, you will need more information, but you’ll have some of the tools.

We’ll discuss the technology itself, how to go about building a PXI system, and discuss some applications.
