Abstract: This paper identifies the various steps in the Design and Manufacturing process where 3-Dimensional component geometries are of important consideration. Product form and fit decisions are made based on these component libraries and the manufacturability and costs to manufacture are based on these same geometric libraries. Unifying solutions designed to improve efficiencies in the process are discussed as well.

It may surprise you that there are at least thirteen (13) steps in the Design through Manufacturing process where the physical geometries of an electronic component are used (Figure 1).
