Abstract: Manufacturing Pulse is a suite of software products for manufacturing facilities that provides real-time monitoring of process quality, equipment utilization, and diagnostics using both GEM (Generic Equipment Model) and non-GEM compliant machines. This Motorola developed software provides a solution for process monitoring feedback delays and calculation inaccuracies connected with manual data collection. It provides real-time equipment monitoring, real-time quality monitoring, an alarm management system, an intuitive Graphical User Interface, World Wide Web access to data, and Dynamic Configuration capability. By using a modular and dynamically configurable approach based on a standard protocol, Manufacturing Pulse is the backbone infrastructure for factory automation systems. The real-time accurate data obtained from Manufacturing Pulse allows for MRP integration and forms the basis for e-Manufacturing. This paper details some of the features of Manufacturing Pulse being used and illustrates case studies that show increased utilization, productivity and quality thereby reducing conversion costs.
