Test Engineering Technician – Software Emphasis

The Opportunity Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks an experienced, professional, innovative, and detail oriented individual for our Test Engineering Technician III position located in Pullman, WA. We’re looking for a Test Technician with experience in troubleshooting and writing test scripts for communication, computer, automation, RF and switching electronics.

Specific areas of focus for this position:

Understanding and review of new circuit board layouts / schematics for manufacturability

Detailed knowledge of electronic components

Development of sophisticated automated electronics testing solutions for circuit boards

Test Engineering Technician – Software Emphasis

Responsibilities:

Test SEL software/firmware to meet specifications and engineering requirements. Document, analyze, and communicate test results using spreadsheets, database programs, and software tools. Accomplish software/firmware testing tasks requiring a thorough knowledge of software/firmware testing processes. Design test plans, programs, and script files. Provide support to engineering staff as needed. Train and mentor new technicians. Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve R&D processes. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:

Two-year electronic technology associate degree or equivalent degree or work experience 4+ years experience testing and analyzing software/firmware programs Working knowledge of modern test equipment, including emulators, logic analyzer, digital oscilloscope, and signal generator Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment Background check results satisfactory to SEL Negative drug test result(s) Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in automating tests Experience with requirements traceability software
