    Administration Efforts to Combat Counterfeiting that Affects the Health and Safety of American Consumers
    Andrew Kline, Senior Advisor for Intellectual Property Enforcement, Executive Office of the President

    Andrew Kline serves as Senior Advisor in a new office of Intellectual Property Enforcement in the White House. In that capacity, Andrew is responsible for all IP-related issues that affect health and safety, including counterfeit pharmaceuticals, other dangerous trademark infringements, and links to organized crime, gangs, and terrorism. Andrew previously served as crime policy advisor to Vice President Biden, as a federal prosecutor for fourteen years, and as Counsel to then-Senator Biden on the Senate Judiciary Committee. In addition to a law degree, Andrew has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government.

  • The Federal Procurement Panel will discuss the various ways the government and industry can work together to address the challenge of counterfeit electronics in the supply chain through the use of practical acquisition strategies and contracting methods. Defense department and industry experts in procurement policy will provide an overview of relevant laws, acquisition regulations, terms, and conditions. As a case study, the panel will share examples of how Government buying activities and their prime contractors can structure and flow down contract provisions to identify and remove counterfeits from their supply chain.
