Join with us in recognizing outstanding SMTA members and nominate a colleague or company for one of the prestigious 2008 SMTA awards. There are many members who have given their time, energy, and expertise to ensure the success of both the SMTA and the industry. The 2008 nomination deadline is Friday, June 27.

The following awards are presented each year at SMTA International:

SMTA+ Corporate Award
Presented to an SMTA corporate member company that has shown exceptional support of the SMTA. This award is not to be based on a product or process, but rather on ways that a company has contributed to the SMTA, for example, attendance at technical programs, support of chapter or national leaders, encouragement and support of participating members, etc.

Member of Technical Distinction Award
Presented to a member who has made significant and continuing contributions to the SMTA over a period of at least three years. Minimum criteria for this award includes being a member of a technical committee, a member who has presented technical papers or conducted a course at local, regional or national conferences.

Founder’s Award

Excellence in Leadership Award

The recipient must be an SMTA member for a minimum of three years prior to the award.

International Leadership Award
Presented to a person who has provided exceptional support and leadership to the SMTA’s international members, chapters, or educational programs. This person’s efforts have resulted in the further development and maturation of the SMTA network, chapters, and programs outside of the USA. 2007 SMTA Award Winners at SMTAIThe FOUNDER’S AWARD honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the industry as well as support and service to the SMTA. This year’s award was presented to Jeff Kennedy(left), Director Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Celestica, Inc. Jeff joined SMTA in 1988, and was a driving force in the Upper Midwest Chapter. He held officer positions there including President, Treasurer, and Vice President Technical Programs. Jeff has also been involved nationally in SMTA conferences, including SMTA International and the Pan Pac, as a speaker as well as Chair and Co-Chair. While serving on the SMTAI committee he has the responsibility for developing the manufacturing/assembly track of papers. In addition to this, Jeff launched and chaired SMTA’s Medical Electronics Conference for its first two years. When one thinks of leadership and dedication to the SMTA and the industry over MANY years, Jeff Kennedy is the name that comes to the forefront.
