During the 2013 Annual Meeting at SMTA International, the association honored members who have shown exceptional service to the association and the industry.
The FOUNDER'S AWARD honoring members who have made exceptional contributions to the industry as well as support and service to the SMTA, was presented to Chuck Richardson, iNEMI. (right). We would be remiss if we did not consider one of SMTA’s first volunteer leaders for this award. Chuck has served us for over two decades... never hesitating to be there to support SMTA from those very early tumultuous years on our Board of Directors right up until 2013 where he is co-chairing one of our major conferences.
The MEMBER OF TECHNICAL DISTINCTION AWARD recognizes individuals who have made significant and continuing contributions to the SMTA. This year the Awards Committee selected Mike Bixenman, Kyzen Corporation and Pradeep Lall, Ph.D., Auburn University, as the recipients of this prestigious award.
Although Mike is an excellent speaker (always getting the highest ratings and in 2012 he won the “best presentation” award at SMTAI), he has a unique quality of always, always, always being there to support the SMTA with any event. We have been so impressed with his organizational skills in pulling together our cleaning conference. He is enthusiastic and at the same time very laid back about any recognition. He cares about our industry and our members and the knowledge that he can impart to them.
Dr. Lall’s experience in both industry and academics brings a unique and pragmatic perspective to the assessment of complex technical issues that are of interest to the SMTA membership. Pradeep willingly shares that perspective with the SMTA membership through highly rated presentations and publications. As an educator, he has also introduced many students to the SMTA through co-authoring of papers and participation at SMTA events.
The EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP AWARD honors SMTA members who stand out as strong leaders in the Association. The 2013 recipient of this award is Don Mayse, Schlumberger (HECE) (left)
Don's technical contributions to the industry he has worked in for the last few decades and his support for the SMTA organization, both at local and national level, are only exceeded by his personal sense of integrity, honesty and devotion to any task he takes on. Don is supportive of any project his chapter takes on and goes out of his way to help them accomplish their assigned tasks. He is always makes himself available to Corporate Sponsors and local members for any technical assistance they need.
The EXCELLENCE IN INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP AWARDis presented to members who have provided outstanding support and leadership to the SMTA’s international members, chapters, or educational programs. The 2013 recipient of this award is Soren Norlyng, MICRONSULT.
Soren Norlyng has been a member of the SMTA since 1998. During that time he has been a key player with our Pan Pacific Microelectronics Symposium. He has recruited numerous speakers for us, chaired sessions, served on the Pan Pac Technical Committee for the past seven years and for the last four has served as the Technical Co-Chair of the event.
The SMTA+ CORPORATE PARTNERSHIP AWARD was presented to STI Electronics, Inc. STI Electronics, Inc. joined the SMTA as a Corporate Member in 1985 and has been continuously active in their commitment to SMTA.
As a corporate SMTA member, STI Electronics has shown support for the association supporting David Raby as a Board member and SMTA President. STI Electronics provides outstanding support of their local chapter with chapter officers, meeting rooms, and hosting of meetings, by exhibiting at many local Expos as well as events such as SMTA International. They encourage employees to become members and attend meetings. STI Electronics is most deserving of this honor.
The CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD recognizes an SMTA chapter that has shown exemplary commitment to our objective... "Sharing the Knowledge". The overall rating of each chapter is measured in the following areas: membership growth, regular meeting scheduling, timely reporting and communication, creative and informative technical programming, special projects, contributions and volunteer service on SMTA committees.
We present our 2013 Chapter of the Year Award to the Oregon SMTA Chapter. We are proud of the chapter's success and for their outstanding leadership team. Congratulations and thank you for "sharing the knowledge" with colleagues in our industry.
