2016 SMTA Members of Distinction Awards

SMTA Founder's Award Winner at SMTAI

SMTA has recognized exceptional individual and corporate members for their immeasurable contributions to the Association since 1994. Please join us in showing our appreciation for SMTA members dedicated to preserving the traditions of the association and maintaining high standards of professionalism in the industry. We invite you to take a few minutes to nominate individual or corporate members for one of the prestigious SMTA awards below which will be presented at the SMTA International Conference in Rosemont, Illinois.

The nomination form will be open in early 2016.

SMTA+ Corporate Award
Presented to an SMTA corporate member company that has shown exceptional support of the SMTA. This award is based on the multitude of ways that a company has contributed to the SMTA. Examples include: attending and participating in technical conferences and events, supporting chapter or national leaders, encouraging and supporting individual members, etc. This award is not based on a company's product or a service.

Member of Technical Distinction Award
Presented to a member who has made outstanding and continuing contributions to the SMTA over a period of at least three years. Minimum criteria for this award includes serving on a technical committee, presenting technical papers or conducting a course(s) at local, regional or national conferences.

Founder's Award
Presented to a member who has made exceptional contributions to the industry, and provided ongoing support and service to the SMTA. The recipient must be an SMTA member for a minimum of three years prior to the award.
Excellence in Leadership Award
Presented to a member who has shown exceptional dedication to the SMTA, serving as a leader at the national, international, and/or chapter level. The individual's involvement has enhanced the association, expanded programs, or made a significant impact to achieve the SMTA mission. The recipient must be an SMTA member for a minimum of three years prior to the award.

International Leadership Award
Presented to a member who has provided outstanding support and leadership to the SMTA's international members, chapters, or educational programs. This person's efforts have resulted in the further development and maturation of the SMTA network, chapters, and programs outside of the USA. The recipient must be a member for a minimum of two years prior to the award.

During the 2015 Annual Meeting at SMTA International, the association honored members who have shown exceptional service to the association and the industry.

SMTA Founder's Award Winner at SMTAIThe FOUNDER'S AWARD honoring members who have made exceptional contributions to the industry as well as support and service to the SMTA, was presented to Ning-Cheng Lee, Ph.D., Indium Corporation. (left). SMTA and the electronics industry have benefited immensely from Ning Cheng’s ardent support and technical achievements over the years. His contributions of technical excellence at chapter events and conferences, on committees, and as a past board member have truly set the standard for SMTA.

The MEMBER OF TECHNICAL DISTINCTION AWARD recognizes individuals who have made significant and continuing contributions to the SMTA. SMTA Technical Distinction Award Winner at SMTAIThis year the Awards Committee selected Don Banks, St. Jude Medical as the recipient of this prestigious award. He has been a key contributor to the advancement of assembly and related technologies for more than 25 years including seven years on the SMTA International Technical Committee, 29 papers, five patents, and work on several other technical committees.

Michael has been 100% dedicated to the success of the SMTA. Much of the Boston Chapter's success can be credited to Michael's hard work. SMTA has always been able to depend on him to get the job done. Michael is a great role model for future leaders... a member, a "doer" and a volunteer for 29 years!

The EXCELLENCE IN INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP AWARD is presented to members who have provided outstanding support and leadership to the SMTA's international members, chapters, or educational programs. SMTA International Leadership Award Winner at SMTAI The 2015 recipient of this award is David Vetharudge, Listech Technology Sdn Bhd.

David has been dedicated to the success of the SMTA and our chapter in Penang since its inception. While serving on the formation committee as well as Chapter President it has been apparent that we can always depend on David to get the job done! David is also a very integral part of the success of the Southeast Asia Technical Conference which draws attendees from well beyond Penang.

SMTA+ Corporate Partnership Award Winner The SMTA+ CORPORATE PARTNERSHIP AWARD was presented to Alpha.

As a corporate SMTA member, Alpha has shown support at every level of the association from chapter and board leadership positions to technical contributions at all of our conferences, committees, and most importantly the willingness of Alpha to share technical knowledge with others in our industry. More than 45 papers have been presented at numerous SMTA conferences. They embody our mission by encouraging employees to become members, attend meetings, and share their knowledge. Alpha is most deserving of this honor.

The CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD recognizes an SMTA chapter that has shown exemplary commitment to our objective... "Sharing the Knowledge". SMTA Chapter Award Winner at SMTAIThe overall rating of each chapter is measured in the following areas: membership growth, regular meeting scheduling, timely reporting and communication, creative and informative technical programming, special projects, contributions and volunteer service on SMTA committees.

We present our 2015 Chapter of the Year Award to the Oregon SMTA Chapter. We are proud of the chapter's success and for their outstanding leadership team. Congratulations and thank you for "sharing the knowledge" with colleagues in our industry.
